Teigen Dobbin - RAD RTS, ADAPT, ACROBATIC ARTS

Miss  Teigen began dancing at the age of three studying ballet and tap. As  she got older, she added jazz, lyrical, pointe, hip hop and musical  theatre to her dance repertoire. She was able to examine under the Royal  Academy of Dance (RAD), ADAPT (Associated Dance Arts for Professional  Teachers) and CDTA (Canadian Dance Teachers Association) throughout her  time as a dance student and performed choreography at recitals and  competitions.

Realizing  after high school graduation that dance had become a big part of her  life, and she wasn’t ready to give it up, Miss Teigen began teaching.  Miss Teigen has been teaching at the studio for the past 13 years, and  has continued to learn, grow and further her dance education. 

She has had the opportunity to certify as a teacher in the following syllabi:

• Leap N’ Learn as an early childhood instructor
• ADAPT as a certified jazz and tap instructor
• Acrobatic Arts (M1, M2) as an acrobatics instructor
• RAD as a certified ballet instructor through the CBTS programme

Miss  Teigen is also certified in Alixa Flexibility, a program designed to  enhance student’s strength and flexibility, as well as in IDTS  (International Dance Teaching Standards), a program focussing on skill  acquisition and pedagogical practices. She has also had the opportunity to further her teaching knowledge in conferences held in New Mexico, Florida and New York.In  addition to instructing students ages 2 ½ to adult in jazz, tap,  ballet, lyrical and acrobatics, these certifications allow Miss Teigen  to enter students into ADAPT jazz and tap exams, Acrobatic Arts acro  exams and RAD ballet exams. 

Miss Teigen also teaches recital and  competition choreography for our studio and her choreography has been  recognized numerous times at competition.  Miss  Teigen prides herself in being a well-rounded instructor, who is able  to teach multiple disciplines, and marry the techniques from one genre  to the next. 

She has an eye for detail and works hard to educate  students of all ages and abilities, in a fun environment, while  maintaining a high level of technical excellence. She enjoys preparing  students for examinations, through safe and age appropriate development  of skills and believes that students’ success is a direct reflection of  her teaching abilities. Miss Teigen also believes that performance is a  major part of dance and loves to choreograph, design costumes and watch  her creative ideas come to life! She is organized, punctual and is  always pushing herself to grow as an instructor and choreographer.

When  Miss Teigen is not in the studio, you can find her at the office, where  she is also a full-time Chartered Accountant, at home with her husband  and one year old son, or off travelling the world. Miss Teigen looks  forward to continuing to share her love of dance with our dancers and  their families this upcoming season!
